On the morning of August 12, 2022, Edie peacefully drew her final breath and her soul left to find well earned eternal rest. She was the beloved wife of Don, loving mother to Michelle Cameron (Mike), and loving grandma to Declan and Ava. Edie leaves to mourn her two sisters in Trinidad and Tobago, Annette Howard and Yvette Ragbir (Joey), and numerous extended family and friends. Edie was predeceased by her parents James and Blanche Howard and her brother Rev. Father Phillip Howard. Edie fought a tough battle with advanced kidney disease, for which she had been receiving hemodialysis treatments since 2018.
Edie immigrated to Canada from Trinidad in 1968. Edie, a driven professional with a passion for helping others succeed, worked for the BC provincial government, as well as the Victoria Intercultural Association and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre. Edie’s family would especially like to thank the staff at The Summit at Quadra Village complex care facility, as well as the nephrology team of doctors and nurses at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Edie celebrated her final birthday on August 5 with her loving family. On that sunny day, she enjoyed one of her favourite Trini meals, a shrimp roti, and was happy and smiling.
“and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:6-7

My dearest Auntie Edith,
I am so very sorry I did not get to see you in person before this day. I know you were happy being in Canada and I could always remember your laugh and hand antics when there was a good joke. May you rest peacefully in the hands of the Lord.
Don I am very sad to hear this news. I send along my deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Edie, now rest in peace. It has been my family’s luck to get to know you.
Dear Donald and Michelle,
Edie was a wonderful wife and mother. Her warm and caring ways will live on through both of you and her grandchildren. Love never dies.
With all our love,
Barbara and Bob
I am very grateful that Edie was part of our family; we loved her very much, had many happy times together and have lots of wonderful memories. She was a beautiful soul inwards and out.
I can still hear her infectious laugh which I loved. To this day, I have her voice message on my phone and I can listen to her lovely sing song accent.
Edie, like me was Leo sun sign and we understood each other. She will be dearly missed.
With much love always,
Lisbeth
Dearest Don, Michelle, Mike, Declan and Ava we are so sorry for your loss. We know that the loss of your wife, mom and grandmother is so very hard to bear. We know that the love and the memories you share will comfort you through the years.
We love the pictures you sent of the Edie’s celebration of life. The Bible quote from Timothy aptly describes her life.
When we visited your family many years ago, Edie was so very warm, welcoming and generous. When Don and Edie visited Ontario we had a great time together visiting Niagara Falls. We wandered around Clifton Hill and popped into a Casino. Good times. Rest in Peace Edie.
Lots of love from Uncle Jim, Aunt Cathie, Abbie, Emma and Boomer
I remember when I went in your bed and watched monster trucks videos on your phone with you.💕
Good night! good night! as we so oft have said
Beneath this roof at midnight in the days
That are no more, and shall no more return.
Thou hast but taken thy lamp and gone to bed;
I stay a little longer, as one stays
To cover up the embers that still burn. H.W. Longfellow
Thinking of you, Don, Michelle, Mike, Ava, and Declan, and wish to express heartfelt sympathies at losing a wonderful spouse and soul mate, mother, and grandmother. Edie’s warmth, generosity, and love filled the world around her, and live on in our hearts. We are richer in spirit for having known her; she rests, but her diligent work carries on.
Love from Michael, Michelle, Erin, and Patrick
Dear Donald and Michelle,
I am very sorry to hear this very sad news – I never got the opportunity to meet Edie, but everything I’ve read points to her being a wonderful partner, a great mother and a good person. I know that she will be missed.
