It is with great sorrow and aching hearts that we share the passing of our dearest mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend Elena (Eileen O) Plotnikoff on May 12th 2020.
Elena was born in the community of Castlegar BC where she attended high school and later received her Business Diploma from Cooks College in Trail, BC.
She leaves behind her children: Kathy (Dave); Rick (Hilde); Luba (Bill) and 6 beautiful grandchildren: Rachel; Andrea (David); Whitney; Luke; Skyler and Sasha. Her 3 sisters: Ruby (Frank); Nila (Louis); Sharon (Chris) and nieces/nephews, friends and family in Victoria and the BC Interior.
She married the love of her life Peter Plotnikoff on May 21, 1958 in a Doukhobour ceremony surrounded by family and friends. First living in Slocan Park they raised 3 active children and when work opportunities arose, they moved to Creston, BC to join Peter’s extended family. While Peter owned PNP Trucking & Logging, Elena worked as a secretary until she received her Real Estate license in 1972. She pursued her passion and became one of the top realtors in the region. Elena was also very active in the community and enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing and softball, as well as her very creative talents in cooking, gardening and painting.
Her favourite times were spent at their Kootenay Lake property with family and friends for her famous mini reunions. After the passing of her beloved Peter in October of 1983, she relocated to Victoria to be closer to her 3 children. She continued to be a passionate and successful realtor for over 40 years.
Our mother had an unshakable positive attitude toward life, an incredible amount of energy and loved her family more than anything.
She developed cancer in 2012 but never let it hold her back from enjoying life. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and is now reunited with Peter in heaven.
We would like to thank the kind and caring nursing and recreation team at Selkirk Seniors Village, in Victoria, BC who made a big difference during a difficult time. Thank You to Dr. Matt Vaughn for his care and compassionate bedside manner. We also thank the staff at Pacific Coast Cremation for their professional, kind and respectful service.
We were so blessed to have had such an amazing, generous loving and remarkable Mom, Baba, and Sister and we will miss her tender heart and warm embrace. She leaves a legacy and memories that we will cherish forever.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves moments and memories that no one can steal!
Love you always & forever Momma!!!
Food and love feed the soul and in lieu of flowers Mom would want people to make a donation to their local Food Bank.

I was so sad to see that my dear friend Elena passed on May 12 2020. We were realtors and partners at Montreal trust for 2 years but remained friends until I moved to Duncan. We still phoned and emailed until my husband Jim passed in 2014 and I lost contact with Elena after that.
my dear friend, I know you are now with Peter. your friend Marlene Quaife
Thank You Marlene. Mom so enjoyed working with you and always shared fond memories of your friendship.
