Ian passed away suddenly at Mount St Mary’s in Victoria on February 2, 2023.
He was born in Toronto on February 14, 1951, the third of eight children. Ian was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Peg, his brother Jaimie and nephew Alec.
He is survived by his siblings: Kathie Csomany (Ron), Susan (Richard), Pam Carbery (Brent), Tony (Ayami), Tim (Linda), Jerry (Eva) as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces
and nephews.
Ian graduated from The Vancouver Community College Culinary Arts Programme in 1975 and worked as a chef at the Oak Bay Marina Restaurant. In 1977 he suffered a traumatic brain injury from a cycling accident which completely changed his life path. After an extensive rehabilitation he was able to live independently with supports until 2016 when he moved to Luther Court assisted living. He loved it there and made many friends.
In 2022 he moved into long term care. He had a love of reading and especially writing science fiction spending countless hours editing and honing his stories. He made friends and was loved by all wherever he went.
Ian will always be remembered for his great sense of humour and huge repertoire of jokes.
There will be a celebration of life for Ian this summer.
