John Sim passed away peacefully, at home, on August 1 at age of 75 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 18, 1945 in Halifax, N.S. and was a long resident of Victoria, B.C.
John is survived by his wife Susan (Burnett) of 50 years. They had 3 sons, Stuart (April), Steven (Dania) and Shaun (Kelly). John was predeceased by his parents Edward and Margaret, brother Eddie and survived by his sister Joan Sullivan , several nieces and nephews all of Halifax. John spent 28 years working for Capitol Stores Ltd in Halifax, before moving to Victoria where he owned several Tim Hortons franchises, a career he loved. John retired in 2009 and spent many months each year traveling the world with Susan. The pride and joy of his life were his 12 grandchildren Spencer, Bryce, Madeline (triplets), Claire, Napoleon, Scarlett, Keira, Conor (surviving triplets), Alexis, Cooper, Dylan and Santiago.

It’s with sadness we say farewell to our colleague and friend John. It was really after his and Sues retirement that we saw his humour and true love of life and family come out and really gained the opportunity to spend some time with him. The sorrow we feel is pushed aside by the brightness of our memories of time spent together.
