It is with heavy hearts that the family of Malcolm (Mac) Donald Northrup share the news of his passing, which occurred at the Royal Jubilee Hospital Victoria, B.C., on February 21, 2022. Born on November 17, 1950, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Pat (Campbell), his son Mattie (Natalie), daughters Sarah (Peter Lonergan) and Emma (Dan Nelson) and the joys of his life, grandchildren Kai and Nahla Northrup; his loving mother Kathleen (Kay), sisters Karen Mills (Jim), Linda Turner (Steve), Cathy Smith, Patty Fullerton, Debby Anderson (Dave), brothers Wayne, Stephen (Abby) and Chris (Jane); sister in law Shirley Ripley (Denis) brother-in-law David (Patty) as well as nieces, nephews, an aunt, an uncle and cousins.
Mac was a graduate (1970) of Simonds Regional High School. In 1971, he and Pat moved to Victoria, B.C. where they began a successful life in the fitness business and enjoyed the sun and snowless winters offered there. Mac loved returning home to enjoy his family time and embraced his east coast roots. There were family reunions and visits to favourite places of his youth. During his last visit home, he kicked off his bucket list with a trip to Boston’s Fenway Park to watch “his team” the Red Sox, play baseball.
He was predeceased by his father Malcolm (Mac), father-in-law John Campbell, brother-in-law John Fullerton and nephew Andrew Smith, as well as many loving aunts and uncles. Mac’s mother-in-law Lillian Campbell passed away on March 13, 2022.
Mac’s ashes were scattered with love at a private family celebration.
