It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Margaret Elaine Ironstand who passed away on February 8th, 2023, following a lengthy battle with Vascular Dementia. She was 76 years young. She is survived by her three children Vicki (Alistair) Graham, Michael (Berdine) Ironstand, Mark Ironstand and older brother Earl Graham. Mom now joins her parents Genevieve “Jenny” Graham, Edward Graham, siblings Louise “Bessie” Graham and George Graham in heaven.
Mom was born and lived all her life in Victoria, British Columbia, she raised her three children on her own. A strong independent woman till the end some might say stubborn too. Mom was a kind soul, always helping others. All her adult life was focused on raising her three children, she worked hard to ensure they had a safe and loving home. Mom had a zest for life enjoyed traveling to where ever her children lived in Canada or abroad. She loved walking, enjoyed dancing, playing crib and Yahtzee especially with her three kids even when they were adults. Mom was an avid gardener her hanging baskets could rival those of Victoria. Not many know but Mom was an accomplished seamstress she made most of Vicki’s clothes when she was a baby and young girl and lets not forget those 3 foot stockings she made for all 3 of her children which she would fill ever year until recent years. So unsurprisingly, Christmas was her favourite time of year, she was an awesome cook and was famous for her cheesecakes.
Mom spent her last 16 months at Veterans Memorial Village Green A2 lodge, as a family we can not thank the team enough for all the care and kindness they gave Mom even through her stubborn periods. As per Mom’s wishes no Service will be held and in lieu of flowers donations in Mom’s memory to the Veteran’s Memorial Lodge at Broadmead https://www.broadmeadcare.com/margaret-elaine-ironstand/or a charity of your choosing would be very welcome.

Our conversations usually took place while we were doing outside gardening where Marg loved to be puttering! ( during the time living in the co-op)
