Nita Ruitenbeek

1945-2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nita Ruitenbeek, beloved wife of John for 49 years, mother of Laura (Michael), Sharon (Randy), and David (Julie), and Oma to three grandchildren. Nita was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1956, settling first in Alberta. After moving to Victoria, she raised a family and worked as a secretary at Pacific Christian High School for 22 years. As a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church, she found ways to contribute to the church community, from teaching Sunday School to working in the church library. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling and living near the ocean. Only recently diagnosed with cancer, she fought a courageous fight and passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 7 while in palliative care at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. We thank the staff for providing excellent care and ensuring that she was comfortable in her last days.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mustard Seed Street Church and Food Bank.
