It is with deep sadness that the family of Walter Edwards share his passing on January 16, 2022, at age 78. He passed away at his home in Victoria, BC with his loving wife, Jean; daughter, Sonnie; and granddaughter, Stephanie by his side.
Formerly of London, Ontario, he was ‘one of the Edwards boys’ from Beal Tech in the late 50’s. Walter will be missed by his loving wife and best friend Jean (Armstrong); daughters, Sonnie Marsh, Lisa Edwards and her partner, Steven, Brenda Edwards; and son, Andrew and wife, Rocio Golin. Adored Papa of Natalie Day and partner Alex, Stephanie Day, and Daniel and Christina Golin. Oldest brother of Don and Nancy Edwards, London; Shirley (Brian) and Jack Galbraith, London; Alan and Lynn Edwards, Winnipeg; Cherie and John Stenabaugh, London; Terry and Karen Edwards, Cochrane; Robin and Doreen Edwards, Chatham; Teresa (Scott) and Ted Vanderberg, St Thomas; Carmen and David Jones, Lucan; Dena and Dennis Regier, Zurich. Loved Brother-in-law of Barb (Cameron) Parker of Portugal and dear Uncle to Suzanne Cameron-Beckstead, Steve Cameron and Jesse Cameron. Walter was predeceased by parents Isabelle and Leslie, and brothers Brian (1994) and Scott (2015).
We offer our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Gaylene Hargrove, Dr. Dennis Francis, and all other medical practitioners who provided care to Walter. He will be lovingly remembered by dozens of nieces and nephews, friends, and the many young people that were cared for during their time of need, in his Victoria home, alongside his wife Jean. In addition to helping others, Walter enjoyed fly-fishing trips to the northern BC interior, cooking for large groups of lucky people, and working on his fast cars. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, and Rain Coast Dog Rescue Society are appreciated.

What a lovely picture of Walter you used to announce his passing, Jean. I am saddened by this loss and send my sympathy to you and the family. There was only one Walter, just like there is only one Jean. You have both done so much for our youths. I have appreciated working with you and knew I could always count on you and Walter. Hold that torch in his memory. God bless.clb
Seeing this picture of Walt out on the water by himself doing what he loved put a big smile on my face. I always imagined that when he was out in the wilderness all by himself he was filling up his tank so he could come back home and do what he did best. Having had the good fortune to be a part of Walt’s circle for over 50 years gave me the opportunity to witness a man who unconditionally loved his family, friends and all of the beautiful young people who came and shared a part of their lives with Walt and Jean. And his ability to truly make a difference and stick with them through thick and thin left me in awe. And then there was the food. The never ending nourishment he provided for the body and soul. He was a true friend and I am a better person because of all I learned from Walt. Jean, Sonnie, Lisa, Brenda, Natalie, Stephanie and all those he left behind I am thinking of you and sending love.
